High risk and high reward defined the waterfall model of game creation. Development took years under this model and as the years rolled on, the investment required for development grew exponentially but the products released were high-quality and highly innovative as every publisher looked for a way to score the ‘best game’. The video game industry curated games that could be played with friends and built the companies involved a big user base for the future. Games at first focused on the co-op aspect of gameplay and aimed to deliver a polished experience through story and gameplay. However, the games of today are far different from these well-known legends of the past. From children, who interact more with Talking Tom than their parents on most days, to senior citizens tapping away at glittering emeralds in Bejeweled, gaming has become ubiquitous in the digital age, and, yet it continues to flow under the radar of the nation’s media, policy-makers, and the general public.
